INTERNATIONAL WORKERS' MEMORIAL DAY 2007

28 April 2007  International Memorial Day in Hong Kong SAR, China

The campaign for the recognition of International Memorial day is organized by the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims (ARIAV). A series of activities started on 22 April 2007, and the content includes:

Dates: 22 April 2007 (Sun)
Venue: Pedestrian Precinct, Mongkok, Kowloon, HKSAR (the busiest area in Hong Kong)
Content:

  1. Photo exhibition---introduction of the International Memorial Day, the situation of occupational death an injury around the world, Hong Kong serious occupational accident in the past years and the exhibition of drawings by the child from the victims’ families.
  2. Speech by the Legislative Councillors to support the recognition of the International Memorial Day and setting up of monuments for the OSH victims

 10 monuments to show the fact of occupational injury

Date: 28 April 2007 (Sat)
Activities on that day:

  1. Organize the OSH victims to join the rally which demands the HKSAR Government to recognise the International Memorial day and setting up the monuments for the OSH victims
  2. Participants wear in black and laid down on the street, to symbolize over 200 OSH death in Hong Kong in the past year
  3. Silent tribute and flowers offering to the dead workers
