Sudan

  • The China National Petroleum Company has invested in oil in Sudan. While Washington maintains partial oil sanctions against Sudan, China has stepped in to become Sudan’s biggest trading partner.   • CNPC first investment as partner in the Greater Nile Producing Consortium – “Much has been written about the Government of Sudan’s use of the Sudanese military, and armed Arab militias to raze villages and forcibly displace local Nilotic African inhabitants in southern Sudan. This so that GNPOC production, and the construction and operation of the export pipeline could progress unimpeded.
